Hello there!

My name is Augustine Ajuogu, third year internal medicine resident and Editor of Clindads. Thank you for visiting Clindads!

Clindads was born out of a quality improvement project to decrease time spent in documentation of common inpatient diagnosis, while decreasing medical errors by shifting from a memory-based paradigm to a memory-assisted process leveraging the increasing use of powerplans/ smartphrases/ dot phrases.

Since the advent of the EMR, physicians are spending more time in front of the computer, taking them away from patient care. This is cited as one of the varied reasons for decreased job satisfaction and burnout in some cases. The idea with Clindads is that your “assessment and plan” portion, after you have arrived at a diagnosis, is pretty much done for managing
common diagnosis seen in the hospital setting.

On our site, you will find smartphrases to copy, paste and modify specific to the diagnosis of interest. Each smartphrase, or ‘Clindad’ as we call them, have been reviewed using the leading textbooks, medical reference materials, as well as board prep materials. Of course you will have to modify and update your smartphrases from Clindads sporadically, but the idea is that the backbone for the treatment plan should remain relatively the same, in the light of our current medical understanding.

Think of Clindads as your smartphrase/ dotphrase databank. We will continue to update the Clindads database and appreciate any feedback.

Special thanks to Melanie Robertson, RN, BSN, CHES who has spent a tremendous amount of work getting our site up to speed. Also thankful to Dr. Brian David, MD (PGYII), who will be coming onboard as an associate editor of content.

Again thank you for visiting Clindads!
